Fourth Floor Has Fallen

Before Hurricane Idalia, the roofing on the GSSM residential building was largely neglected and desperately required maintenance. This led leaks on fourth floor although infrequent. They caused extensive mold damage.

During Hurricane Idalia, experienced massive leaks and damage to the ceiling tiles. Reportedly, there were leaks coming from water sprinklers, ceiling tiles, and the sides of the walls. One ceiling tile on the top floor collapsed.

This event is known as the Fall of the Fourth Floor, and is typically referenced with the phrase, "Fourth Floor has Fallen".

Due of the severity of the damage, the school decided to fully replace the roof of the resident halls.
