Govies,

It is with deep regret that I am informing you of the sudden passing of Dr. Bhuvana. For those of you who did not have Dr. Bhuvana as a teacher, she taught in our biology department and was the faculty lead for HOSA and our Asian Culture clubs. Yesterday, Dr. Bhuvana was having a medical procedure in Florence and had complications. Her two daughters (Shreya graduated from GSSM in 2016) and her sister have been with her these past few days. Dr. Bhuvana touched the life of so many at GSSM since she started here in 1998 and will be missed greatly.

We understand the many emotions that occur during times of loss, especially unexpected losses. We ask everyone to be considerate of others as our community processes this collective loss. We are blessed to have wonderful Wellness Counselors who are here to support you. From 4:00 to 5:30 PM this afternoon, Mrs. Faith, Mrs. Hope, and Mr. Ian will be in the College Resource Room if any students want to gather. If you think it would be helpful, we encourage you to stop by.

While GSSM employees are also mourning this loss, be assured that you are our priority. Please let us know how we can support you.
