The South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics, also known acronymously as SCGSSM, GSSM, or on this Wiki simply the School, is a two-year public boarding high school in Hartsville, South Carolina. The School provides opportunities for students to participate in classes that their home high schools might not offer, college counseling, and numerous athletics. Other draws to the School include the character of attendees: Because of admissions process and alleged prestige of the School, it makes the claim that attendees to the Governor's School are the "Highly motivated students"[1] In 2023, students from the Governor's School had the second highest average ACT score and in 2024 the third highest average SAT score in the state.[2][3]

Of the graduate class of 2024, 29% attended Clemson University and 23% attended the University of South Carolina. 7% attended other in-state universities, and the remaining 41% attended various other out of state universities.[4]
